FIRE DOOR

Fire doors are considered essential passive fire safety measures under National Construction Code, which should be installed at entry to every individual unit (Sole-occupancy-units) and generally a minimum fire rating of 60mins is required, although in many high-density residential blocks 120mins fire rating is required.  

Fire Door VS Normal Door

Fire doors can be wood, steel or glass, they are constructed with fire resistant material and hardware components, which are design to aid escape and/or slow down the spread of fire.

Typical fire door hardware components include, fire-rated door frame, fire-rated swing arm door closer, fire-rated door lock (001 Lockwood dead locks or in new built digital locks) and if a peephole is installed, it should be stainless fire rate peephole. For residential units the door needs to be self-closing and self-latching.

For commercial premises with automatic sliding or swing fire doors, the door may also be required to be hardwired back to fire panel with
